HEIC photos won't open on Windows? Send JPG from iPhone
On Android? Read the Android version
Short answer
HEIC photos won’t open on Windows? Send JPG from iPhone instead. Open Stripix, pick your photos and tap Convert → JPG. You set the quality and what metadata to keep, and it all runs on your iPhone. Convert HEIC to JPG shows the tool at a glance.
Turn HEIC into JPG before you send it
Your iPhone can hand you a JPG copy of a photo, but it doesn’t let you set the quality or choose what metadata stays.
- Open Stripix and pick photos, or share them to Stripix from Photos.
- Tap Convert → JPG. Set quality if you need a smaller file.
- Decide what to keep: all metadata, no location, or nothing. Tap Save.
Single files are free. Batches, like a whole album in one go, are Pro. Everything runs on your iPhone. Nothing is uploaded.
Questions
Why does my iPhone shoot HEIC?
HEIC files are about half the size of JPG at the same quality, so your iPhone uses them by default. Most Apple apps handle them fine. Older websites, Windows PCs and some forms don't.
Does converting lose quality?
Slightly, since JPG is a lossier format. At the default quality the difference is invisible on screen. Keep the HEIC original if you might edit later.
Can I make the iPhone shoot JPG from now on?
Your iPhone has a camera setting for that, but it only changes new photos. The ones you already took stay HEIC, and Stripix converts those.
Can I send the JPGs without my location?
Yes. On the same screen, keep everything, strip location only, or strip all of it.
